Holiday Celebrations

On the 3 major holidays of Thanksgiving, Christmas and Easter, we hold holiday dinner parties at 9 locations in the Copper Country for anyone who is 60 or older and will be alone on the day. We have 2 additional sites that are only hot meal delivery sites.

We have a couple other holiday activities, including our Christmas Food Box Delivery, Gift Delivery, and our Christmas Light Tour.

Our dinner parties are festive celebrations with a traditional holiday meal, brightly decorated hall and tables, entertainment, and lots of laughter. The food is all home cooked and for Thanksgiving includes salad, main course of turkey, dressing, mashed potatoes, sweet potatoes, hot vegetable, cranberry sauce, and rolls. After enjoying great entertainment and good company, we conclude with homemade pie, coffee, and non-alcoholic champagne; and our elderly friends and volunteers can make toasts to each other and to the holiday. Before our elderly friends leave, they get lots of hugs, a fresh flower and usually some leftovers to enjoy the next day.

Transportation is provided for those who need it, and all volunteers are encouraged to sit and eat with our elderly guests. This adds to the family atmosphere and certainly makes for special memories.

The nine dinner party locations:

Calumet, Ontonagon, Copper City, Baraga, Tapiola, South Range, Houghton, Hancock, and Houghton County Medical Care Facility (this is a private party for our elderly friends there whom we visit all year)

Our two Hot Meal Delivery Sites are in Houghton and Laurium
