Current Volunteer Needs

HOLIDAY HELPER:

Holiday helpers are needed on Thanksgiving and Christmas Day as well as the days surrounding for preparation and cleanup.

Time commitment: As assigned based on availability

Primary Needs include:

  • Making and receiving phone calls.
  • Picking up donations.
  • Turkey prep.
  • Delivering supplies to a meal site.
  • Decorating bags, making and filling treat baskets.
  • Baking desserts and cookies.
  • Office cleanup.
  • Cooking.
  • Dining Room set-up and greeting.
  • Serving.
  • Site clean-up.
  • Drive elders to and from the party.
  • Deliver meals to the home-bound.
  • Provide musical entertainment.
  • Deliver a gift and a flower to nursing home residents.

RECEPTIONIST:

The volunteer Receptionist is responsible for maintaining a professional atmosphere while greeting and directing visitors to the organization. This position requires a strong communicator with excellent phone conversation skills who enjoys working with the public.

Time commitment: One scheduled half-day per week.

Primary responsibilities include:

  • Welcome and direct all visitors in person or on the telephone
  • Perform common clerical duties including but not limited to: answering phones, taking messages, sorting and distributing mail, filing, and copying.
  • Assist staff with assorted jobs including the assembly of mailings, phone calls, copying, shredding, etc.
  • Maintain the confidentiality of all elderly friends, volunteers, and staff discussion.
